Dreispitz near Stuttgart

Apartment House Eltingerstraße, Gerlingen

For an inner-city redensification near Stuttgart, a contemporary design was created that plays with the image of an archetypal residential building with a gabled roof. The apartment building, an optical fusion of three buildings, presents itself with a loosened perforated façade facing the street and opens up to an idyllic green area at the rear. The monochrome colourfulness, combined with subtle differentiation of the materiality, integrate the building, despite its size, into the scale of the grown stock of the surroundings.

“People like to live in grown structures, at the same time inner-city redensification is a central aspect of sustainable building. The sensitive handling of existing buildings and the careful insertion of new buildings creates high-quality living spaces”.

The total of thirteen 2- to 4-room apartments as well as a spacious penthouse in the attic with sustainable sizes between 73 sqm and 177 sqm living space are distributed over 5 floors of the residential building, which is organized as a three-room building. A total of 14 underground parking spaces are allocated to the apartments.

With a total area of 1229 sqm of living space, the design makes maximum use of the permitted buildable area and offers high-quality living space in an inner-city gap between buildings in one of the preferred residential locations on the outskirts of Stuttgart.
